Adobe recently updated its flagship photo editing software with a new, touch-centric interface and the ability to work both with RAW and JPEG files. Among the new features are a new raster image editor, support for professional-service providers that enhance RAW files, improved RAW image format conversion, and the ability to monitor the health of workflow processes through a new monitoring and diagnostic tool.

“The majority of new features have been around for some time, but even the smallest tweaks are impressive,” says Kirk McElhearn, senior editor at PC Labs, which published a review of Photoshop. “If you compare top-flight photo editing software to, say, SketchBook, it is hard to name anymore many differences between the two.”

However, many newer photographers and even professional-level users may have trouble adopting the new interface, not the least of which is the fact that the desktop version of the software is still quite the clunky beast, according to reviewer Bryan Lufkin.
